2025 was a big year for FoodSAVE – it’s the year it was born! Here are some highlights:
January: the year started out with the team working very hard to finalize the program and website ready for its launch.
March: FoodSAVE was launched with the Gosford Training Day where 12 participants gained first-hand experience with the program and learned how to run it.

July: A second training day was held on the far north coast of NSW at Mullumbimby. 9 participants came, including a representative from South Australia!

September: Our third training day was held on the mid north coast at Kempsey. We had 5 very enthusiastic attendees, with one being a current high school teacher. We’re excited about the potential for kids to learn how to make food choices to boost their bank and health.

We want to thank the North NSW SDA Conference for promoting and helping to coordinate these training events. As a result of these efforts, there are now 21 approved FoodSAVE facilitators who are ready to run the program for their communities!
October/November: The first ever FoodSAVE program was run for the local community in the Toronto area by two of our newly trained FoodSAVE facilitators. At least half a dozen people attended each workshop and those who came spoke highly of the program. Some wanted to share it with their neighbours so they could come next time!
We are excited to see more community programs being run in 2026, as facilitators build it into their plans for this year.
